As wedding videographers, we’ve now seen most wedding venues in Yorkshire – and, by and large, the wedding venues in Yorkshire to choose from are pretty stunning.
Of course, it really depends what you’re after – but if you’re not going for a church wedding, for us, these are the top 5 wedding venues in Yorkshire. In no particular order…
This one is easy – it’s where Smith&Hirst wed! After considering dozens of Yorkshire wedding venues, including taking into account the many venues we’ve captured on wedding film – we felt there was nothing that compared to York Maze for what we wanted. If you’d like a rustic, relaxed wedding experience, York Maze is perfect.
When it comes to the weather, too, it caters for all eventualities: there’s a beautiful courtyard with old cartwheels and wooden benches, and an extensive indoor space in the form of converted barns. If the weather’s good you can visit the farmyard animals and jump around on the massive bouncy pillow – great for both children and adults! You can decorate the venue yourself, exactly as you want it – plus, book your wedding here and get the venue for three days to yourself. Smith&Hirst, for example, hired York Maze Friday, Saturday (the wedding day) and Sunday.
Oulton Hall is renowned in Leeds as a high quality venue for anything from office parties to business conferences. It lends itself well to weddings too; if you’re wanting a stunning, stately wedding venue, this is it.
One of the biggest benefits of Oulton Hall is its sheer size – you can hire generous-sized rooms, and you’re unlikely to be short of rooms – all your guests can stay in one place! It’s also easily accessible from the M62 and M1, and set in beautiful country side just 15 minutes from Leeds centre.

Rudding is another venue with a beautiful setting. For Smith&Hirst, we found its grounds made for great wedding shots for both videographer and photographer.
We also particularly liked the Grade 1 listed chapel – quite unlike any other chapel we’ve filmed in, with a bright, warm space for the happy couple to say their vows. There’s also a luxury spa on site too – perfect for the bride (or groom!) to relax the day before the wedding.

Badgen Hall is a stunning venue – and it has real presence, most evident when you drive up the approach road. For your wedding videographer and photographer, there’s a picturesque lake, and also lots of little hideaways in the woodland that make great backdrops to beautiful photographs of the happy couple alone.
Again, if you want a venue to impress with size and impressive surroundings, Bagden Hall is perfect. You can set up marquees on the landscaped grounds, too – and, again, there’s adequate room availability for most weddings.

Wentworth Castle Gardens
The grounds of Wentworth Castle are littered with the most beautiful and characteristic ruins – and make for a really different wedding. There’s plenty to add interest to your wedding video or wedding photographs, too.
Wentworth Castle Gardens offer lots of open space – great for summer weddings – and overlook miles of rolling South Yorkshire countryside. There are also 50 acres of formal gardens – again, great because they allow your wedding videographer of photographer the opportunity to add vibrant colours to their account of your day.
